GET TO THE ROOT OF What’s Wrong
FIRST PRINCIPLES
A practical framework for understanding stress, recovery, performance, pain, sleep, focus, and the nervous system that connects all of them.
Stop Living in Survival Mode
For the people who are carrying a lot:
The professionals.
The parents.
The former athletes.
The high performers.
The people everyone else depends on.
You handle responsibilities all day long.
You push through stress.
You keep going even when you are exhausted.
And somewhere along the way, your body stopped feeling balanced.
You may still be functioning.
But you do not actually feel well.
You are not lazy.
You are not weak.
And your body is not broken.
Most people today are simply overloaded. Modern life keeps the nervous system constantly stimulated. Work, notifications, responsibilities, schedules, pressure, poor sleep, emotional stress, and nonstop input all add up over time.
Stress keeps building. Recovery never fully happens. The body stays alert for too long. Eventually, even small things begin to feel harder than they should. You may feel tired all the time. Your mind may never fully slow down. You may feel tense, distracted, reactive, or emotionally drained. You may push yourself harder and harder, only to feel like you are getting further away from feeling healthy, focused, or in control.
This program was built to help you understand why. Not from a surface-level fitness perspective, but from the deeper connection between stress, recovery, the nervous system, performance, behavior, pain, and overall wellbeing. Not through complicated science. Not through motivation tricks. And not through another “push harder” fitness system.
Eventually the body adapts to that overload.
About The ProgramFirst Principles is a practical framework for understanding stress, recovery, performance, pain, sleep, focus, and the nervous system that connects all of them. Once you understand how your system works, everything starts making more sense.
Many people today are stuck in a cycle of stress without realizing it.
The body stays alert.
The mind never fully slows down.
Recovery becomes incomplete.
Over time, this can affect nearly everything. Most people think they have a motivation problem. Often, they actually have a recovery problem.
Your nervous system controls far more than most people realize. It affects your energy, your sleep, your emotional reactions, your focus, your recovery, and even the way your body experiences pain and tension.
WHY MOST PEOPLE STILL FEEL STUCK
When the system stays overloaded for too long, the body adapts.
You may notice poor sleep. Brain fog. Low patience. Tight muscles. Emotional exhaustion. Poor focus. Feeling constantly “on.” Small tasks may suddenly feel overwhelming. Many people respond by adding even more pressure. They try to force better performance through discipline alone.
But the body is not a machine.
When recovery disappears, the system eventually begins compensating.
More caffeine.
More workouts.
More stimulation.
More stress.
But if the system never gets a chance to recover, eventually the body pushes back. That is why this program focuses on understanding stress and recovery together. Because performance without recovery eventually turns into burnout.
THE STRESS BUCKET
Work stress. Poor sleep. Hard workouts. Parenting. Emotional stress. Pain. Constant notifications. Busy schedules. Financial pressure. Even things you enjoy can still place stress on the system.
Recovery acts like the drain at the bottom of the bucket.
When recovery is strong, the system can handle stress better. But when stress keeps pouring in faster than recovery can drain it out, eventually the bucket overflows. That overflow can look different for everyone.
For some people it becomes exhaustion. For others it becomes anxiety, pain, irritability, poor focus, emotional shutdown, poor sleep, or chronic tension.
Most people never realize how many “faucets” are turned on in their lives.
What It DoesThis program helps you identify those stressors, improve recovery, and better understand the signals your body has been trying to give you, so you can work with your system instead of constantly fighting against it.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Our top goal of this program is self-awareness. Because once people understand how their system works, they often stop blaming themselves for symptoms that were never simply about motivation, discipline, or willpower in the first place.
The First Principles system is built around four core areas that affect nearly every part of human performance and wellbeing.
This is not about becoming perfect. It is about learning how to better work with your body instead of constantly fighting against it. It is about becoming more aware of how your system works so you can stop fighting against your own body.
-
You will learn how stress affects the body, how recovery actually works, and why balance matters more than simply “working harder.” You will begin understanding how sleep, nutrition, stress, and recovery all work together.
-
You will learn how your body shifts between stress states and recovery states, why people get stuck in “survival mode,” and how nervous system regulation affects focus, performance, healing, and emotional control.
-
Flexible, expert advice when you need it. Book hourly support across a range of topics—from planning to problem-solving. This focused consultation will help clarify your goals, map out next steps, and identify opportunities for growth.
-
You will begin understanding how emotions influence decision making, why habits are connected to nervous system state, and how awareness can help create more sustainable change.
WHO THIS IS FOR
This program was built for thoughtful people who want a deeper understanding of stress, recovery, performance, and wellbeing. Many of the people drawn to this work are already high functioning.
They are working hard.
They are productive.
They are responsible.
But internally, many feel exhausted, overwhelmed, tense, disconnected, or stuck in survival mode.
Some people join because they feel burned out. Others because they struggle with stress, poor sleep, chronic tension, pain, emotional reactivity, or difficulty slowing their mind down.
Some simply want a more intelligent and sustainable approach to health and performance than what modern wellness culture often provides.
This program was designed for people who feel quietly overwhelmed by modern life and want a clearer understanding of how stress affects the body and mind.
Others simply want a deeper understanding of themselves and how to function better in everyday life. No matter where you are starting, the goal is the same: To help you better understand your system so you can feel more balanced, resilient, and in control.

ABOUT JEREMY & RICK
First Principles was created from years of working with people struggling with stress, pain, burnout, poor recovery, and performance challenges in modern life. Jeremy and Rick come from different professional backgrounds, but both repeatedly arrived at the same conclusion:
Over years of professional experience, they’ve seen some of the highest performers feel like their bodies are fighting them: fatigue, nagging chronic pain, but really their bodies are giving them signs.. They are struggling because they do not fully understand how stress and recovery affect the nervous system, behavior, emotions, pain, sleep, and overall performance.
Jeremy brings over 20 years of experience as a Physical Therapist specializing in pain management and neuromuscular reeducation, with the last 15 years focused on the study and practice of neuroregulation through the fascial system. His work is deeply informed not only by professional experience, but by his own personal journey navigating mental health challenges and decades of self-development and recovery work. Through both clinical practice and lived experience, Jeremy came to believe that many people are missing foundational education around stress, nervous system regulation, recovery, and body awareness. While he continues to advocate for quality mental health care, he believes understanding these First Principles has made his own mental health management more sustainable, predictable, and effective.
Rick is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and over 20 years of experience spanning sports performance, cardiac rehabilitation, and personal training. His work has evolved to focus on helping high-performing individuals manage stress, move efficiently, and stay out of pain while maintaining demanding lifestyles.
His approach is shaped not only by professional experience, but by a lifelong commitment to understanding how people learn and apply information. Growing up with learning challenges, Rick developed a deep appreciation for clarity, patience, and effective communication—qualities that now define his coaching and teaching style.
Rick believes many people struggle not from lack of effort, but from a lack of clear, practical education around how the body works. By focusing on foundational principles and simplifying complex concepts, he helps clients build a more intuitive, sustainable approach to movement, recovery, and performance.
What People Are Saying
What Is Metabolic Assessment?
Stop guessing at what you need to train, and know now by assessing:
AMR
Understand how your body uses fat vs carbs at certain intensities, your breathing efficiency, and how to change your physiology to reach your genetic potential.
RMR
Your resting metabolic rate quantifies how many calories you burn at rest during the day. Measuring the gases you breathe we can assess your caloric needs.
